IGA 001

High Accuracy Gravimetric Gas Sorption Analyzer

The IGA design integrates precise computer-control and measurement of mass change, pressure and temperature to enable fully automatic and reproducible determination of gas sorption-desorption isotherms and isobars in diverse operating conditions.

A range of sample environment options are available to allow operation at temperatures from -196 to 1000 °C  and at pressures ranging from ultra-high vacuum (UHV) to 20 bar. The IGA-001 has been used in a diverse range of applications areas, including gas sorption on carbons, zeolites and metal-organic frameworks, gas interaction with ionic liquids and for the characterization of hydrogen storage materials.

Product Features

  • Versatile gravimetric gas sorption analyzer, with ultra-sensitive microbalance
  • Precise ramp-set-point PID pressure control from one or more high resolution sensors, up to 20 bar
  • Stable set point furnace for accurate isothermal operation and low thermal mass furnace for rapid response ramping
  • Cryo-cooling option for controlled low temperature operation down to -196 °C
  • Inert gas loading option for moisture and air sensitive samples
  • Readily upgradable to other IGA series models
  • Unique IGA method for sorption kinetics and equilibrium isotherm determination

The IGA Method

The IGA method involves continuously monitoring and analysing the weight data following a controlled change in gas pressure. This real-time analysis both determines the kinetic parameters and predicts the exact point of equilibrium uptake. The equilibrium points are collected and plotted as an isotherm, giving a consistent reproducible analysis method whilst making optimal use of instrument time.
